Hierbij even een foto van het "trappetje" op ons bed; in de bijbehorend gekleurde slaapkamer...

En ook de quilt van Nadeche-Prinsesje schiet al heel mooi op. Wel heel leuk om al die draaiinkjes en hartjes te doen hoor! (Vooral met dat lieverdje in gedachten... ;) .....)

And also Nadeche-Princess is coming along nicely. It's so much fun to make all those little swirls and hearts! (Especially with the little sweetheart in mind..... ;) ......)


Vorige week zaterdag waren we met de oude ambachten-groep bij het multicultureel festival in Harderwijk. En naast dat het heel gezellig was vond ik dit prachtige boek! Daar wordt je dan toch zo blij van!!
Last week we were with the old crafts-group at the multicultural festivities at Harderwijk.

And besides that it was a great festival i found this beautiful book! That makes a quilter so happy!!

En zie eens: een bekende! De quilt van Salinda Rupp; toen nog niet bekend als Nearly Insane.... leuk he?!!

And look: a familiar one! The quilt by Salinda Rupp; at that time not known as the Nearly Insane..... isn't that great?!

En een Tile-quilt, toen ook nog niet zo genoemd. Men dacht toen nog dat het een variatie op de Crazy Quilt was....... Dit boek is gedrukt in 1980 in Amerika en pas later ontdekte men nog meer van deze quilts.

A Tile-quilt, not known as such at that time. It was thought then that it was a variation of the Crazy Quilt...... This book was published in 1980 and only later on they discovered more of these quilts.

Het is een boek met een schat aan informatie en heel veel foto's! Geweldig!
It's a book with a load of information and lots of photographs! Great!

Nog even laten zien dat Amar ons de hele tijd wel in de gaten hield, hoor! De dame (11 maanden) is op het moment nogal ondeugend...... Ze heeft notabene een sok opgegeten donderdagavond; en  na bezoekje dierenarts die het advies "afwachten maar, wat er van voren in komt, gaat er vaak van achteren wel uit....", zijn we dus nu nog steeds aan het afwachten.... (wel spannend trouwens..... :( .......).
Just showing that Amar spied on us the whole time! The "little" lady  (11 months) is very naughty at the moment..... She  even has eaten a sock last thursdaynight; and after a visit at the vet, who gaves us the advise: "what goes in at the front, most probably will come out at the back....", we are still waiting....... (quite worrying by the way..... :( ....)


Nou, voor nu maar groetjes en een zwaai!! For now greats and a wave!!

Even wat "quiltigs"....... Just something "quilty"......

aan jullie laten zien....... De pyramidetjes vorderen ook al gezellig tot lange slingers; en het zijn echt plaatjes om te zien! Zo leuk hoe zoveel totaal verschillende stofjes zich gedragen in één quilt-to-be.
to show you...... The little pyramides are coming along nicely into long garlands; and they are so cute!
It's great to see so many totally different fabrics creating a beautiful quilt-to-be.

En ook de quilt van Nadeche wordt al een plaatje! Hier zie je nog hoe ze klaar ligt om aan elkaar gezet te worden.  Ondertussen zijn wel al aan het doorpitten, maar daar heb ik nog geen foto van............ :( .....  

And also Nadeche's quilt is going to be a beauty! Here you can see how she's ready to be put together. 

In the meanwhile I have started quilting here, but forgot to take a picture.......  :( ....... 

     

En ook de rode quilt (Featherweight Challenge) ligt ondertussen op ons bed. Hier is ze bijna klaar, een volgende keer maar een totaal plaatje van onze rood/witte slaapkamer, waar ze precies bij past. :)

And also the read quilt (Featherweight Challenge) is ready and lies on our bed. Here she's almost ready, a next time I will show you a picture of our red/white bedroom where she fits in nicely. :)

Ondertussen is onze kamer ook helemaal opgewaardeerd, en dat was beste een heleboel saus-en verfwerk...., maar we zijn er ontzettend blij mee. Zo komen de quilts nog beter naar voren....  :)

Our livingroom had a total make-over, and that was a lot of paint-work....., but we are very happy how it turned our. This way the quilts are looking so much prettier.... :)

En ja, inderdaad!!! Jullie zagen het goed: een quiltrek à la Supergoof..... staat het niet prachtig?!! Even van dichtbij.....

And yes!!! You saw it wright: a way to hang you quilt like Supergoof does..... isn't it beautiful?!! A bit upclose.....

Dat was het even voor nu. Geniet van de zon en hopelijk tot snel!

Gezellige drukte in december........ Buzzing in december....

Even een kort berichtje van mij zodat jullie weten dat ik er nog wel ben........ ;)

Just a short message so you know I am still here......... ;)

Het is ouderwets druk in december; net als bij ieder van jullie waarschijnlijk. Internet schiet er dan echt bij in.......
Maar dit is wat is tussen de bedrijven even probeer te doen (en natuurlijk ook het quilten aan de Featherweight Challenge).

It's old-fashioned pressure in December; just as it probably is with al of you. Internet isn't in the picture than.....

But this is what I'm doing in between of all the activities (and ofcourse the quilting of the Featherweight Challenge).

En dit is het geworden. Natuurlijk kun je allerlei kleurcombinaties gebruiken.

This is what is has become. And ofcourse you can use all kinds of colourcombinations.

Wit met rood........ White with red.....
Blauw met zilver.... Bleu and silver...

Fijn weekend!!

Featherweight Challenge.........and beautiful colours!

Wat kan de tijd nog vliegen, he?! Ik denk dat iedereen dat wel eens heeft; dat je steeds het idee hebt dat er niet genoeg uren in een dag gaan........ ;))

Nou hier heb ik me vooral bezig gehouden met de Rail-Fence-quilt. Want het einde kwam in zicht en dan ben ik altijd zo nieuwsgierig hoe het eruit gaat zien.............!

Dus jammer...... geen blokjes gemaakt van de Dear Jane, want Sjaan kwam niet op visite......... Ze heeft me wel verzekerd dat ze volgende maand echt niet weg wou blijven, dus dat gaan we dan wel zien.....!

Dus hier even een korte impressie van de vorderingen......

Hier ligt de hele top in elkaar genaaid, inclusief de randen. Ze meet nu 2.05 m. bij 2.30 m.

Dat is nogal een oppervlakte, he? Past straks mooi op ons bed, als de slaapkamer opgeknapt is ........ ;) .....

How does the time fly, isn't it? I think everyone has that sometimes; the idea that there should be more hours in a day......... ;))

Well, I 've been almost exclusively busy with the Rail Fence quilt. The finish came insight and I got very curious about how she would look.......

So... this month no Dear Jane blocks, because Jane just didn't visit....... She assured me to be present next month, so we will see.......!

Let's just see the progress I made on the Rail Fence, allright?

Above is the whole top, inclusing the borders. She measures now 2.04 m by 2.30 m. That is quite a surface area, isn't it?!

It will fit our bed perfectly, once our bedroom has been improved........ ;) .....

Ik vind het een super-quilt worden!

Samen met Nat (klik) en Terry (klik) zijn we deze Featherweight Challenge begonnen en het is echt de moeite waard om even bij hen te kijken!

We hebben onze Singer Featherweights gebruikt om haar te naaien en iedere Rail-Fence is weer heel anders geworden!

I think it's become a super-quilt!

Together with Nat (click) and Terry (click) we

started this Featherweight Challenge and it is really worthwhile to take a look at their blog!

We used our Singer Featherweights to sew our Rail-Fence-quilts and everyone of them turned out real different!

Dit is mijn Josephine die zelfs voor zulke grote stukken stoffen echt haar "mannetje" staat!! ;)

Is ze niet fantastisch!!

This is my Josephine who isn't afraid of even such big laps of fabric! ;)

Isn't she just great!!



Hier zie je hoe ik de Rail-Fence rijg. Gelukkig heb ik een grote tafel, die ik kan uitschuiven..... Anders hou je echt geen rug meer over.....

Here you see how I baste the Rail-Fence. I am so lucky to have such a big table; I can draw it out as well.... Otherwise my back will really hurt........

En nu kan het doorpitten beginnen..... Ik houd jullie op de hoogte van de vorderingen......

Now the quilting can begin....... I will keep you posted on the progress......

En dan ook nog naar een kleurenadvies geweest....... Met alle dochters! Wat was dat schitterend! We hebben allemaal genoten en zoveel geleerd over de kleuren die bij je passen. Het was een geweldige middag!

Marijke, heel erg bedankt voor het idee! Anke en Chantal, heel erg leuk dat we allemaal samen konden gaan! Elsbeth (als je hier klikt, kom je op haar site), ik had nooit gedacht dat kleuren zo'n verschil kunnen maken in je uitstraling en ik ben zo onder de indruk van de precisie van Gods schepping! Super!!

And then I also went to a colour-advice........ with all daughters! That was so great!

We had a lovely time and learned so much over the colours that fit our personalities!

Marijke, thanks for the beautiful idea! Anke and Chantal, it was such fun to do this together!

Elsbeth (if you click here, you can visit her site), I never thought that colours could make such a difference in one's appearance and I am really impressed by the precision of God's creation! Super!!

Speciaal............. Special.............

Het is toch wel een speciale dag vandaag, he?! Ons land 65 jaar geleden bevrijd......... Dat doet me toch wel wat.......... Ieder van ons wel, denk ik!

En het is vandaag onze Dear Jane-update....... Bovendien was ik nog een update van de Featherweight Challenge schuldig; ik doe dat samen met Nat en Terry. (Het is ook leuk om even bij hen te kijken...)

It is quite a special day today, isn't it? Our country was set free 65 years ago..... I feel that as a special event...... Everyone of us, I guess!

And today is our Dear Jane-update....... I also am an update late about the Featherweight Challenge I am doing with Nat and Terry. (It is also fun to make them a visit..)

Eerst maar even de Featherweight Challenge; het is al weer de 4e update. Ik heb alles nog niet in elkaar genaaid (dat kwam vooral door het bezoek van Sjaan...... ^_^ .......). Maar ik kan jullie wel laten zien welke stof ik heb gekocht voor de randen. Echte Staphorster stof! Zo wordt het toch echt wel een internationale quilt........!

First the Featherweight Challenge; it is already the 4th update. I haven't sewn everything together (because of Jane's visit...... ^_^ .....). But I can show you the fabric I bought for the borders. Real Staphorster (= Dutch) fabric! It's really getting an international quilt.....!

Bovendien was Sjaan op visite en dat was toch zo gezellig! Eigenlijk... is ze nog niet weg........ En zijn we nog steeds zo leuk bezig met al die kleine lapjes...

Featherweight Challenge and Dear Jane!!

De Rail Fence-quilt schiet heel erg op!

Dit is dan de bijna complete top!! Nu alleen nog de randen en kunnen we met sandwichen beginnen.

Ik moet alleen nog bedenken welke achterkant erachter moet. Eigenlijk zit ik al aan een echte Staphorster achterkant te denken of aan zo'n stof met taferelen; kan nog niet zo goed kiezen........

Ook Natima (klik) is al een heel eind! Ze heeft vanaf haar vakantie in Japan een updateje gedaan; en haar quilt is echt een schatje met dat speciale geweefde effect!

The Rail Fence-quilt is going very fast! This is almost the complete top!! I only have to add the borders and I can start sandwiching her.

I still have to think what will be the backside of the quilt. Actually I was thinking of a typical Dutch (Staphorst) fabric or a scenic print; I can't make up my mind yet......

Natima (klik) is almost ready as well! She updated from her vacation-adress in Japan; her quilt is a real cuty with that woven effect!
