dinsdag 31 december 2013

Op deze laatste dag van 2013... On this last day of 2013......

I wanted to whish you all a good New Year.

There has happened much in our family, this last month. On December 4th I wrote that my father started the last piece of his earthly yourney. At that time I didn't know how close that was....
He passed away on December 10th.
We are glad that the Lord delivered him from this suffering and that he is now safe in Jesus' arms (als he called it himself when he was still able to speak).
And this rest and peace we experienced ourselves in the week of the funeral...
Now we have to go on.. we miss him so much....., but every day there is again Strength to be able to live, enjoy and also to let our tears flow....

And ofcourse I  loved to join the Celtic Solstice-mysterie by Bonnie Hunter (click).
I even caught up....., since last night part 5 is also done. It is so great to work behind your treadle and let your thoughts run free........

I even found a fabric that has my father's name on it..... that's really special to put in this quilt, isn't it?!

Also the flower-baskets are giving me pleasure to work on.... and I have almost finished part 7..

This are the finished Sweet William flower-baskets, part 6.

And here I work on a part 7-flowerbasket ; ofcourse with a doughnut!! :) (Dutch tradition for New Year's Eve.......)

And with this picture I want to close my last blogpost of this year......
These hand, who symbolize the hands of our Lord. The hands that carried my father to Heaven; the same hands that will carry us here on Earth..... to give us courage and peace for the coming year; whatever it will bring.
In the beautiful and in the difficult moments we may know that He will carry us. That's my stronghold and my whish for all of you.

Happy New Year!!

Love, Ria.

p.s. the hands were an idea of our oldest daughter; the little heart I made myself and put it (together with my mother) in the hands, because three days after the burial it was my birthday..... my 55th.... and the first one without my father......

woensdag 4 december 2013

Rustgevend....Restful.......

is it, when you're chainpiecing.
The sound of the treadle, together with your thoughts and the composing of fabrics, making something beautiful together....

It's looking great!
I'm so curious where we are going to place these iin the Celtic Solstice Mystery by Bonnie Hunter (click).

The little flowerbaskets of the Sweet William Quilt is also coming along......

Nu wachten op de volgende...
And the third vase of Love Entwined is in full bloom.  ;)
Waiting for the next one....

Maybe it can take a while before I write a next post.
My father has been very ill for more than a month and the last part of his journey on earth has begon..
We are sad to have to miss him, but grateful that he has peace and is looking forward that his Lord and Saviour is coming for him to take him home.

Enjoy eachother.
Love, Ria.

Love Entwined......

Look, I'm busy with vase 3 of the Love Entwined quilt.
It is really so much fun!
And fun we had at the Love Entwined Bee, last Thursday, at Quiltpalace (click).
So beautiful to see all the different versions!
Really gorgeous!
It's just a pity I forgot my camera, so now you'll have to wait untill the next bee.... sorry.... :(

And this is the total picture so far....

And a picture of Amar, enjoying the birds, who are enjoying the little apples......

Geniet ze!!
Have fun!

Love, Ria.

maandag 18 november 2013

Spinnewebjes....? Diamanten....? Spiderwebs...? Diamonds....?

Hoe zullen we ze nu noemen, he?
How shall we call them, huh?
They are just like spiderwebs and you make them from diamonds..... :)
Diamonds made of papier actually, where you sew little strips of fabric on.
Left-over fabrics...... crumbs and pieces left over from other sewing-projects.
So much fun to see what you can do with all those "left-overs"... ;)

Elni (click) cut the diamonds for me. So sweet!!
So we are sewing diamonds together..... ;)

And a bit closer, so you can see how all those points join together.

And a picture taken from above.
You put the diamonds together in a hexagon-shape, attached to the other diamond on the small or wider side of the red strip in the middle.

:D .... :D ..... :D ....
Leuk!!!
Fun!!!

And this old lady is doing al the work on this project!
Yvonne (van Budel) is so busy with it....... and she's such a great sewing-friend!!
I'm really happy she's mine!

Heel veel plezier met al jullie handwerkjes!
Have fun on all of your needlework!!

Love, Ria.

vrijdag 15 november 2013

Allemaal applicatie....... All appliqué.........

lately....
Because of an injured hand, the second vase of Love Entwined (BOM by Esther Aliu -click-) didn't get much work done.
But now I can hold my needle again and I'm quickly catching up...

Have to ad a few flowers and berries and than....:

Part 6; de third vase also printed today!  ;)

"Tuurlijk, Amar, daar gaan we......!"
And here is Amar...
"But mum....., we have time to play a bit with a towel, don't we....??"
"Ofcourse, Amar, let's play......!"

"En de bal dan...??"
"Nou, mam wil nu graag even wat appliqueren, Amar..."
"How about the ball.....??"
"Well mummy wanted to applique a bit, Amar...."

"It's allright.... I'll get it myself, mum!"

Geniet ze vandaagl!! Doen wij ook... ;)
Enjoy your day!! We'll do the same.... ;)

Love, Ria.

Van kleur, stofjes en naaimachines....... Of colour, fabric and sewing machines......

Maybe I told you that I would enter the Amish BOM II (Block Of the Month)...
If I didn't...... : it's such a beautyful quilt with such lovely colours, that it was a feast to make the first two parts.
Amish BOM II is hosted by Quiltpalace (click).

Here the blocks are all done and waiting to be put on their place in the quilt.
And next to the blocks is a new family-member gloating .....  ;)

En natuurlijk: meer dan welkom!!
This is "Denise", she belonged to friends of ours and was looking for a new home.
And she succeeded!  :)
Ofcourse:  more than welcome!  :)

Showing the blocks a bit closer; Denise also wanted to be on top of them, ofcourse..
The things that are happening here!
It was all a bit new to here, but I don't think that wil take long.....

Een prachtige dame!! A beautiful lady!

Ook nog snel even de blokjes van deel 4 van de Sweet William BOM (klik) gedaan;
Also the blocks of part 4 of the Sweet William BOM (click) I made quickly;
they had to wait due to all the new "old" sewing machines lately.

En de mandjes van deel 5 staan ook al te wachten op hun bloemen;
altijd een leuk werkje die kleine driehoekjes! :)
And the baskets of part 5 are also waiting for their flowers;
always a great job those little triangels!  :)

Geniet van jullie weekend!

Heerlijk Apliquicken en LE-en........ Love to Apliquick and the Love Entwined....

(trouwens als je er nog over denkt om mee te doen; er is nog een plekje over -hebikbegrepen-;
Really, it's such a great feeling to see that people understand what you are explainig; there is a certain sparkle in their eyes!  ;)
That was what happened last week at the Apliquick-workshop!
Everyone what enthousiastic; it was a 100% succes!!!!
And ofcourse that isn't my doing, but of those great Apliquick-tools!!!!
Tomorrow is the last workshop; and I really am looking forward to it!

And ofcourse I want to continue with Love Entwined, part 5 already.
What a gorgeous pattern!
Here you can see the four parts of the second vase, neatly glued together,
at the window.
So I can easily trace them on the Ricky Tim's Stable Stuff Poly (click).
And then I'm ready to work with the Apliquick-tools.

(klik).
(Dus heb je nog zin om mee te doen...... ????  :) ...even aanmelden!
And this lady (Princes) Sissie Niks, on the picture below, is almost ready for the Elderly-Club!! (click).
(So, if you would like to join us.....???   ;) .... sign up..!
It would be so much fun to admire all those old machines!!)
Her tension still has some problems, but I expect that to be solved.
She is a BEAUTY! (I think..... :) ....)

Fijne dag!
Well, I'm quickly going back to my Apliquick and Love Entwined!!
Enjoy your day!

Love, Ria.

zondag 20 oktober 2013

Leuk!..En een "Bejaarden-Soos"!..... Great!....And an "Elderly-Club"!.

Ja, echt, ongelooflijk!!
There are so many great things to do, and time flies by then!
I really have to tell you all about all the fun thats happening here.....  :)
It's really incredible!!

Eerst de geweldige leuke Apliquick-workshops, afgelopen woensdag!
Dames: allemaal heel hartelijk bedankt!!
First the wonderfull Apliquick-workshops, last wednesday!
Ladies: thank you all for a super time!!
(ofcourse: I forgot to take pictures, so here an oldie of the Apliquick-tools...)

En hier is mijn tweede Vesta (dus naast "Tante Es"!).
Ontmoet: Tante Mien (-Wilhelmina-).
Zo rond 1930.
Afgelopen zaterdag opgehaald uit Smilde.
Prachtig, he?!
And here is my second Vesta (besides "Auntie Es"!).
Meet: Auntie Mien (-Wilhelmina-).
She is the handcranck-version of Auntie Es; although a bit younger. Around 1930.
Collected her last Saturday from Smilde (in the north of the Netherlands).
Isn't she gorgeous?!

ECHT 125 jaar oud!
And:
last Saturday we also brought this respectable lady home to us, from Groningen...
A Singer Improved Family from 1888,
REALLY 125 years old!
Made at the Kilbowie Factory, Clydebank, Scotland.
She actually is the precursor to the Singer 15 class-machines
and is therefore also called a Singer 15-1.
It was really a stroke of luck......
Had I not seen a Quilt-cam-episode of Bonnie Hunter (click)
where se was also sewing on such a machine,
I might not have recognised her.......
Her name: (Princess) Sissie Niks.

I feel like such a lucky girl!!!!!!!!  :)

Isn't it great, all those old machines!!
If you also love these oldies and would like to join us,
sign in and have fun with all of us!!!!
Great to see eachother "old ladies" and hear their stories
and ofcourse to see what gorgeous things we still make with them!!

Maar wat je ook doet: geniet ervan!! Een heel goede week!
But, whatever you do: enjoy it!! Whishing you a great week!

Love, Ria.

dinsdag 8 oktober 2013

Een nieuw oudje....... A new Oldie......

Even voorstellen:
Tante Es:
Just introducing:
Auntie Es:

Found her threw an encounter with a lady at the second-hand-shop.
I bought a Singer 121B there (now called Phoenix) and she asked me if I was interested in a Treadle Machine....
Well..... ofcourse I was!!!!!!  :)

It's a Vesta. Well, I had not heard of a Vesta ever!
She looks like a Singer 127/128; so I've learned from Francis(click).
(Thanks so much, Francis!!)
And she was so terribly FILTHY!!!!

So cleaning and lubricating and oiling .... A LOT......
And trying to find a rubber weel for the spoolwinder..... :(
The house still smells after all the stuff... ;)

Gelukkig gevonden!!
Found one!!

And after taking also the entire tension-spring apart, because it sticked together from all the durt..
She sews beautiful!!!!
I'm so glad!!!

En ook het handquilten gaat heerlijk verder.
Lekker ontspannen, na alle opwinding over Tante Es. :)
Nog één rand dan is het klaar!
And also the handquilting is coming along.
So relaxing, especially after all the excitement over Auntie Es.  :)
One border to go and she is done!

En even van dichtbij...
And a bit closer....

Allemaal nog een fijne week!
A nice week to you all!

Love, Ria.
